If you look at an Algonquin Park map, you will see this water route. From the western boundary at Algonquin Access Point # 1 east to Cedar lake and down the Petawawa - is the natural water way across Algonquin Park. Following the glacial melt of 10,000 years ago, the 13 day trip has two distinct sections. The first seven days are flat-water canoeing on gorgeous Algonquin park lakes and small windy rivers. Pull out your fishing rod and fish for trout. Get close for outstanding pictures of moose, loons and beavers. The second week picks up speed with white-water canoeing down the class 2 and 3 rapids of the Petawawa.
Two weeks in the backcountry
This two week canoe trip requires a comfort in the wilderness and some canoe experience. Learn and/or refresh paddle, moving water and portage skills along the way. The campsites are beautiful. Swim in the clean fresh water. Enjoy back-country gourmet meals cooked over a fire. The trip is participatory by nature.

FAQs for 13 Day Canoe Trip
Backcountry camping refers to camping in Algonquin Park’s interior campsites. On our canoe trips, the guide finds the best campsite for the group. Each campsite has tent sites, a fire pit, and a “thunderbox” (ie: toilet). We provide the tents, stoves, tarps, and any other equipment required to make a backcountry campsite into a backcountry palace. Water is taken from the lake and purified for drinking. All backcountry travel follows leave-no-trace principles.
This 13-day canoe trip does require you to have some paddling experience. It is recommended that you have some paddling and camping experience and be comfortable being outside and active for 6 hours at a time. Like all of our canoe trips, this is a participatory trip where you are paddling, portaging and helping at the campsite. There are a few long portages
Voyageur Quest’s guides are skilled outdoor professionals who ensure your canoe trip is an adventure of a lifetime. On top of being well-versed in the natural and cultural history of Algonquin Park, our guides are warm, personable, and service-oriented. Most are gradates of post-secondary programs related to outdoor adventure and all possess industry certification in wilderness first aid, life-guarding, and canoe instruction.
This is an all-inclusive canoe trip. All accommodation, meals, permits and equipment are included. You bring your personal clothing, sleeping bag, toiletries, and camera. If you don’t have a sleeping bag, you can rent one for $90for the trip. A complete list of what to bring is attached to your receipt upon booking. If your camera requires charging, bring a portable charger.
Voyageur Quest canoe trips are participatory by nature. We believe the more you participate, the better your experience will be.
You will be encouraged to participate as far as you are comfortable. This includes: learning how to
paddle and portage a canoe, camping comfortably, preparation and creation of delicious meals, learning about the
natural world, and the enjoyment of living in the backcountry.
Solo travellers are welcome! On these longer canoe trips, 50% of our guests are solo travellers.
This trip averages 4 trippers with a max of 8 plus your guide. Our guests range in age and nationality. The common denominator is a shared love of adventure, wilderness and exploaration.
We provide fresh, mostly whole-food meals prepared with care and skill. Please explain in detail any special dietary needs or allergies you might have during your booking.
We are happy to accommodate any dietary requirement. For special diets such as vegan, gluten-free, or lactose-free, we do charge an additional fee in order to properly accommodate your needs. Please be sure to describe your requirement in detail when making your booking. For severe allergies, it is recommended that you bring at least two EpiPens with you.
Yes, and enjoy responsibly!
Our best advice is to bring liquor and/or wine. Decant the contents of glass bottles or cans into plastic containers. It is forbidden to bring glass or cans into Algonquin Park.

Payment Policy. A 25% deposit with “to book” form information confirms the booking. The balance is due 30 days before the trip. Full payment is due for trips booked within 45 days of the trip date. Please note a 2.4% credit card fee is applied. We encourage e transfer or bank wire transfer wherever possible.
Cancellation Policy. Cancellation received 60 days or more prior to the trip – Full refund minus a $75.00 admin. fee. Cancellation received less than 60 days – Loss of initial deposit. Cancellation received less than 30 days – No refund will be issued without the purchase of cancellation insurance, purchased at the time of booking from your travel insurance provider.
