Itinerary

Take this opportunity to experience a traditional Canadian Christmas at Algonquin Park. Frozen lakes, waist deep snow, wildlife tracks, the howl of a wolf, and the crisp clear air are just a few of the delights of a Christmas winter wonderland. Hang your stocking and sip eggnog in front of the massive stone fireplace. Work off the Christmas feast by dogsledding on Boxing Day!

This special four-day trip features intimate lodge accommodation at the Algonquin Log Cabin. Located at Algonquin Park, the lodge features authentic log cabin construction amidst spectacular wilderness. Accommodation is double occupancy with shared indoor washrooms, as well as a sauna and shower cabin. Group size is limited to 12 guests and Algonquin Log cabin guides and staff who are your hosts for a very special Christmas in a Log Cabin.

December 24 Christmas Eve
We rendezvous at the Algonquin Log Cabin for a hot lunch of butternut squash soup and fresh baked bread at 12:30pm. After lunch, we spend the afternoon exploring Surprise Lake on snowshoes.

Christmas Eve includes our homemade Habitant eggnog, wild salmon dinner, hanging of stockings, a moon lit bonfire, and a torchlit skate.

December 25 Christmas Day
The day begins with champagne Christmas brunch before departing for a Christmas backcountry ski through the coniferous forest. Warm up in the sauna and then enjoy a Christmas feast of Turkey, Kawawamog (Yorkshire) Pudding and world famous Ontario ice wine. Relax after dinner in front of the Rumford Fireplace.

December 26 Boxing Day

HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED? WHAT KIND OF SHAPE DO YOU NEED TO BE IN?
None! The Traditional Canadian Christmas is for people at any level of experience. Other than those returning for a second or third adventure, most of our guests are experiencing the wilderness in winter for the first time. For the most comfortable experience we recommend you do some regular exercises before joining us.

WHO ELSE IS ON THIS TRIP?
Our guests are active, involved people with an adventurous spirit! The age of most of our guests range from late twenties to mid seventies. While a group of 10 or more ensures the exclusivity of the lodge, there is no reason you can't come alone. Approximately one quarter of our guests come by themselves.
