Itinerary

Few people have experienced a March Break in Algonquin Park ! Sunny days and frozen lakes are the back drop for fun and exciting excursions by snowshoe, backcountry ski, and dogsled. Beyond the sheer beauty, the excitement of mushing your own team of huskies or cross country skiing through the wilderness of the Almaquin trail is sure to keep your family on their toes!

These three-day experiences feature comfortable lodge accommodation at the Algonquin Log Cabin Lodge. Located at Algonquin Park, the lodge features authentic log cabin construction amidst spectacular wilderness. Accommodation is double occupancy with shared indoor washrooms, as well as a sauna and shower cabin. Group size is limited to 12 guests and two Voyageur Quest guides who prepare delicious meals allowing you to put up your feet after the invigorating day on the trail. These three-day trips leave every Monday and Friday from Toronto and return Wednesday and Sunday.

Day 1
We rendezvous at the Algonquin Log Cabin Lodge where lunch awaits. After a hot lunch, we spend the afternoon exploring Surprise Lake on snowshoes. A tasty dinner in front of the wood stove completes our day.

Day 2
After a hearty Canadian breakfast, we pack a lunch and head out on skis to the Almaquin trail. The trails are incredibly beautiful. For those that are keen for the backcountry, the pine laced shoreline awaits on Surprise Lake! Other favourite options include tapping maple tree's, Quincy building and toasting toes in the warm confines of the cabin! Another home-cooked feast and further relaxing finishes our day.

Day 3
Harnesses, gee and ha, and ganglines are just a few of the expressions we pick up as we spend the morning mushing our own team of huskies. After a trail lunch, we depart for Toronto arriving at 7pm.

March 12-14 & March 16-18, 2013

HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED? WHAT KIND OF SHAPE DO YOU NEED TO BE IN?
None! The Algonquin Family Winter Adventure is for people at any level of experience. Many of our guests are experiencing the wilderness in winter for the first time. For the most comfortable experience we recommend you do some regular exercises before joining us. The mushing requires a moderate - not strenuous - workout!

IS IT SAFE? WHO ARE THE GUIDES?
In over twenty two years of operating, no one has ever sustained a serious injury on any trip. Our primary concern while you are with us is your safety. Voyageur Quest guides are qualified professionals and trained in wilderness first aid. They are skilled outdoorsmen and women who are there to ensure your winter trip is an adventure of a lifetime. On top of being well versed in the natural and cultural history of northern Ontario, our guides are selected for their love of the people and the land.

WHAT ARE THE PEOPLE LIKE?
Your travelling companions will be some of the most unique and interesting people anywhere. Our guests are active, involved people with an adventurous spirit! The ages of most of our guests range from late twenties to mid seventies. While a group of 10 or more ensures the exclusivity of the lodge, there is no reason you can't come alone. Approximately one quarter of our guests come by themselves.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY
Each participant will be required to sign and return to Voyageur Quest a release of Liability before being allowed to participate in any trip we offer. This document releases Voyageur Quest from liability in the case of accident or injury for any reason.
