Join us at the Algonquin Cottage Outpost this March on the newest addition to the Winter lineup at the Algonquin Cottage Outpost. The Algonquin Weekend Snowshoe features a daily guided snowshoe tour across frozen lakes and through forest trails as well as gourmet meals served up in the Nipissing Dining Room.
Relax at the end of the day with a hot chocolate in front of the fireplace in your cozy cottage or chalet suite.
Day 1 - Friday Arrive at the Algonquin Cottage Outpost at let your senses take over as you smell the fresh Algonquin air and taste the delicous lunch that awaits you. After lunch, strap on your snowshoes and head out for a guided tour through forest trails looking for animal tracks and hearing the sounds of snow crunching beneath your feet. Return to your cottage and relax in front of the fire. Head over to the Nipissing Dining Room for a homecooked gourmet dinner featuring recipes guarunteed to get your taste buds excited. After dinner the torches on the lake will be lit for an evening skate under the stars.
Day 2 - Saturday Rise and shine and enjoy a hearty breakfast! Today you'll explore a snowshoe hike taking you to an amazing lookout over Algonquin Park. Lunch will be served on the trail. Head back to your cottage for an afternoon nap or head out on your own for a backcountry ski across Kawawaymog Lake. Dinner is served in the Nipissing Dining Room.
Day 3 - Sunday Breakfast is served back in the Nipissing Dining room. Snowshoe across the lake to the Voyageur Quest island cottage. Discover the shores of Kawawaymog Lake eventually returning to the Cottage Outpost for a late lunch. Depart after lunch.
Date: March 1-3, 2013
Cost: $425 per person plus HST (based on a mimimum of 4 participants)
The cost includes: 2 nights cottage or chalet suite accommodation, meals beginning with lunch on day 1 and ending with lunch on day 3, guided snowshoe trips and the services of a wilderness guide and backcountry gourmet cook.
The cost does not include: HST, personal clothing or round trip transportation from Toronto.
Accommodation is provided in the Nahma, Magnetawan or Nipissing Cottages.
