Algonquin Park is Canada's favourite canoe trip destination. Just three hours north of Toronto, Ontario, our Algonquin 3-day Family Canoe trip offers incredible opportunities to see and photograph moose, listen to wolves howl and learn about other wildlife. Seasoned guides, tasty backcountry meals and beautiful campsites make this trip the ultimate way for families to experience Algonquin Park for the first time.

Don't worry about experience! Our guides teach all the skills along the way! Most important, our canoe trips are a true vacation. We provide all the equipment and our pace is relaxed. There is plenty of time to swim, explore or take a nap! Group size is limited to eight guests and a Voyageur Quest guide who prepares delicious meals allowing you to put up your feet after an invigorating day on the trail

Our Algonquin Park canoe trips are convenient with trips leaving every Monday and Friday from Toronto or Algonquin. Transportation, food, equipment and the services of a professional guide are all provided.

Optional 7:45am pick up in downtown Toronto or 12:30pm rendezvous at the Voyageur Quest canoe outpost situated at the northwest corner of Algonquin Park. After lunch, we load our packs and canoe into Algonquin Park. Along the way we learn how to paddle, portage and have loads of time to swim in the clean freshwater. We set up camp on a scenic point covered in Red Pine and enjoy our first meal and campfire. Lying in our tent, we nod off to the sound of the west wind whistling high above.

After a tasty breakfast, we break camp and paddle east through a series of classic Algonquin Park lakes. A floating lunch gives us the energy to paddle up a bog where we have a great opportunity to see beavers, Great Blue herons and moose. Our final stop is on a beautiful lake where we have the afternoon to hike, swim, and fish or take a siesta! We enjoy fresh baked bannock cooked over the fire and listen to legends and myths of travelling through the Canadian wilderness.

The distinctive smell of fresh coffee and bacon frying gets us out of our sleeping bags and up for breakfast. After packing, out we go for a hike through a mixed maple forest learning about the unique mix of flora and fauna. Option to learn to solo a canoe and to navigate as we paddle back to the take out, stopping along the way for a large smorgasbord lunch. We return to the rendezvous location for a 3pm departure.

The above itinerary is intended to give you an idea of a 3-day family canoe trip. The exact program is tailored on trip to the preferences of the group and weather.

The Algonquin 3-day Family Canoe Trip is for people at any level of experience and is suitable for children 6 and up. Our pace is very relaxed, as the trip objective is to have fun, look for wildlife, swim, and enjoy the Algonquin environment.

Voyageur Quest canoe trips are participatory by nature. This includes learning how to paddle, portage (carry canoe overland between lakes or around rapids). The longest portage on a 3-day trip is 350m. Depending on the trip, you will paddle, portage and camp each day while our professional wilderness guide provides leadership and instruction on all aspects of living and traveling in the wilderness. You will be encouraged to participate in as far as you are comfortable doing so. This includes: learning how to paddle and portage a canoe, camping comfortably, preparation and creation of creative and delicious meals, learning about the natural world and the enjoyment of living in the outdoors.

Voyageur Quest guides are skilled outdoorsmen and women who are there to ensure your canoe trip is an adventure of a lifetime. On top of being well versed in the natural and cultural history of northern Ontario, our guides are selected for their love of the people and the land. All Voyageur Quest guides are qualified professionals and trained in wilderness first aid.

A typical canoe trip consists of families with children from age 6. Northern Ontario canoeing attracts people from all over the globe, so you will likely be traveling with an international group. Group size is usually between 6 and 8 people.

Each participant will be required to sign and return to Voyageur Quest a release of liability before being allowed to participate in any trip we offer. This document releases Voyageur Quest from liability in the case of accident or injury for any reason.
