Killarney Guided 5 Day Sea Kayak "Explore Phillip Edward Island in Georgian Bay"
Clothing Suggestions
Remember when you're packing your clothes that there is limited space in your sea kayak! The opening in the top is narrow, so bulky bags aren't appropriate. We supply ensolite-sleeping pads; if you have a thermarest, please bring it along.
SLEEPING BAG
Bring a three season (-8°C) rating sleeping bag. Rentals are available from $20 ($14US).
RAIN GEAR
A jacket with hood and separate pants work best. A poncho will also suffice.
FOOTWEAR
Teva-type sandals are perfect daywear, as your feet will be getting wet. A pair of solid running shoes or trail shoes are recommended for evening. Count on the sandals getting wet during the day while your second pair stays dry for nights.
WARM CLOTHES
While the weather is usually warm and dry in summer, temperatures can drop to around 3°C at night, and the winds are also quite cool. Remember to bring a warm sweater (wool or fleece), warm wool socks, long pants, and long sleeved shirt.
SUN PROTECTION
Dehydration and sunburn can wreak havoc on your energy so bring along a water bottle, sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and shorts.
BUG DOPE AND FLASHLIGHT
While spring is bug season, you should still bring insect repellent for summer trips. Anything with DEET level over 25%, e.g. Muskol, will be effective. A flashlight is recommended for evenings.
OTHER IMPORTANT ITEMS
Bathing suit (for swimming), T-shirt(s), bandanna, camera with extra film, daypack.
Remember to send us copies of your photographs!
We offer a free trip at the end of the year for the best photo.
