Working outside at Algonquin Park is a great employment opportunity for those of us who love the outdoors. Helping showcase the beauty of our natural world to our wonderful clientele is a wonderful aspect of our outdoor work. Voyageur Quest is recognized by the Canadian Tourism Commission as "best in class" and is a recognized "Signature Experience" provider that specializes in Algonquin Park. Our canoe outfitter, canoe trip operation and three lodge facilities, are all located at Algonquin Park’s northwest corner.

We are presently hiring for the following positions:

2016 SUMMER ALGONQUIN PARK CANOE TRIP GUIDE / LEADER

Voyageur Quest is looking for canoe guides to work 3 and 5-day canoe trips at the North West corner of Algonquin Park for our spring/summer/fall season. In addition to having an exceptional canoeing tripping background, applicants should have strong leadership skills and be comfortable speaking about Algonquin flora, fauna, night sky and local culture in front of an adult commercial and family market. Solid interpretative and program skills are essential. Our guides love to teach our guests about the wonders of Algonquin Park. Warmth and Hospitality skills are essential.

Applicants should have the following certification:
Wilderness First Responder
Bronze Cross or higher swimming lifeguard status
Strong leadership experience in a wilderness environment
Strong canoe tripping background preferably in a commercial setting

ORCKA Canoe Tripping 3 ( course and certification is part of 7 day training in May, 2016.)

All Canoe Guides must have:
Personal Paddle, PFD, tent & personal camping gear used for tripping
Comprehensive wilderness First Aid Kit

Driver’s license and car an asset to allow for transport to and fro. Bus and occasional shuttle may be available

May 24 to Sept 30th 2016 or
May 24 to Sept 4th, 2015 or
Voyageur Quest Canoe Trip Training runs May 24 -31, 2016.

From $135 to $175 (Commensurate with experience) plus tips
Lakeside cabin accommodation available while off trip.

2016 SUMMER ALGONQUIN LOG CABIN ADVENTURE GUIDE
Voyageur Quest is looking for a guides/naturalists to work 3 and 5-day lodge based interpretative programs at the Algonquin Log Cabin and Algonquin Cottage Outpost. Applicants should have strong leadership skills and be comfortable speaking about Algonquin flora, fauna, night sky and local culture in front of an adult commercial and family market. Good interpretative and program skills are essential.

Applicants should have the following certifications:
  • Wilderness First Aid
  • Bronze Cross or higher swimming lifeguard status
  • Strong leadership experience in a wilderness environment
  • Canoe instruction experience.ORCKA Canoe Tripping 3 an asset
  • Driver’s license required
  • A car is an asset to get you to and from the Algonquin Log Cabin and for your days off. A bus and occasional shuttle may be available.

2016 SUMMER ALGONQUIN CANOE TRIP SUPPORT /LOGISTICS MANAGER Voyageur Quest is looking for a responsible, organized person to oversee the day to day operations of our Algonquin Canoe Trip Operation. Our Outfitter is located at the northwest corner of Algonquin Park. The job position involves dealing with customers, packing out canoe trips, meet and greet for all trips, trip logistics, and communication with our canoe guides and Toronto office. Applicants should have the following:
  • Valid drivers license
  • Personal vehicle
  • Experience with Canoe and equipment repair
  • Experience with Food handling
  • Experience with packing out wilderness trips
  • Solid experience with canoe tripping especially in a commercial setting
  • Proven organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to both work on own and amongst the canoe guiding team.
  • Good hospitality skills
Option for on site lakeside accommodation

$700/week
Anticipated weekly schedule Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sun.
Days off -Tues and Sat

2016 SUMMER SEASON SHOPPER/COOK The Voyageur Quest Shopper/ Cook predominately supports the needs of the Algonquin Log Cabin serving groups of 4 to 18. Serving groups of 4 to 18, the shopper/cook assists with:
  • inventory, ordering, planning, shopping for and delivering food and
  • preparing healthy and tasty meals in an open kitchen

Applicants should have: excellent organization skills, ability to work in a small team and a background/ understanding of food, menu, cooking and baking.

Our cooks are excellent communicators and enjoying interacting with the customers.
  • $18/ hour
  • Must have email and telephone to communicate with office.
  • Car an asset to get to and from work
This position has the option of onside accommodation in the Lakeview staff cabin especially in the spring/summer/fall months

2016 SUMMER ALGONQUIN PROGRAM AND OPERATION “SUPPORT” Voyageur Quest and the Algonquin Log Cabin are looking for outdoor staff to help support our Algonquin canoe and lodge operation. The “support” position helps the guide and food /cook fill various gaps on Lodge based wilderness trips including: meet and greet customers, canoe lesson, assist in preparation of meals, dishes, lodge cleaning, assist in outdoor excursions, canoe trailer loading, town run and driving truck with canoe trailer. The position does not require certification but preference is given to candidates with wilderness first aid, drivers license and canoe instruction experience. The position requires warmth, pride in solid hospitality skills and an enthusiastic attitude to pitch in and help wherever necessary! This is an ideal position for candidates who are looking to begin a career in the adventure travel industry.
  • Teaching canoeing, assist with bonfire dinners and sunrise paddles
  • Driving truck with canoe trailer, loading canoes
  • Assisting in food preparation and dishes
  • Helping with lodge to standard
  • Town runs
