Winter Training 2005

Winter Training brought together the Voyageur Quest team for Winter 2005! We are excited to welcome back Kris and Pete. The VQ team is happy to welcome Joe, Yves & Andrée-Anne!

We spent a great week at the Algonquin Log Cabin and Cottage Outpost snowshoeing, skiing and taste testing some delicious winter recipes. We had some really wonderful weather - the sun made the snow on the lake sparkle like diamonds.

The Team is looking forward to a wonderful winter season together!

Take the Train to Algonquin

It is encouraging to see so many of our Toronto guests choosing to take the train to our winter adventures at the Algonquin Cottage Outpost. The train is very convenient. Leaving from downtown Toronto’s Union station, the Ontario Northland leaves Toronto every morning at 8:40am for a 4-hour journey to South River, just outside the western boundary of Algonquin Park. Our guide team picks up our guests in South River and shuttle out to either our Algonquin Log cabin or Algonquin Cottage Outpost. The train returns back to Toronto, leaving South River daily at 2:40pm and arriving in downtown Toronto at 6:30pm.

Ideal for people who do not want to deal with winter driving conditions, the train offers an exciting alternative for families. Last winter, my son Ben (who was 4 at the time) and I took the train to Algonquin. He loved Union Station, the train’s sliding chairs (and snack car!) as well as stepping off into the “wilderness” of South River! The cost is quite affordable with a return trip to South River being around $105 per person.
